CHILDREN: ASSESSMENTS
We always try to do the best for our kids, and that should include taking care of their feet! Many foot and leg disorders are hereditary so if there is a history of foot and leg problems in the family like bunions, ankle, knee or hip arthritis, ‘shin splints’ or ‘flat feet’ make sure your children have regular podiatry check ups. Many foot problems can be avoided or minimised, the key is to be assessed and treated early, ideally, before problems actually develop. Podiatrists generally like to see all children for an annual check up from the age of 3 years. Early assessment allows the podiatrist to track development and assess wether your child will grow out of their problem or need treatment. Common concerns parents generally have for their children include pigeon toed gait, flat feet, growing pains, warts or heel pain.
