CHILDREN: ingrown toenails
Ingrown toenails are a common problem for children, often peaking in the sweaty teenage years, when the skin becomes soft and more easily penetrated by the nail. ‘Picking’ of the nail is often a contributing factor for ingrown toenails, as are shoes that are too small. Your podiatrist can treat the ingrown nail and more importantly help to prevent recurrence by educating your child about correct cutting techniques and correct footwear to avoid abnormal pressure on the nail area.
